Claim to Fame

Gladys Lawson is a writer and a professional Microbiologist/Scientist with Management and Counseling qualifications. She has written poems and short stories from a tender age and has had a few of her pieces published. She wrote her first novel a few years ago, but put it to one side in order to concentrate on promoting and writing songs for the recording artist she manages.Gladys believes that the best writers have lived, have experienced or are experiencing what they write about. As Gladys is a Scientist and also manages a singer, her debut novel thus encompasses both of her interests - namely music and science - as well as suspense. Gladys also finds time to manage another writer who specializes in short humorous stories and is currently working on a novel. Ultimately, Gladys would like to write more books, at present she is finishing her second one, more songs and short stories.

Gladys happens to be my friend. So I am making a claim to this Famous author. We did 'A' Levels together and have been friends ever since.

I am showcasing two of her books in this blog. They are both christian fiction. So they would make perfect gifts for evangelising. They are suitale for both young and old.

The first book is titled 'Despite all odds: A dream fulfilled'

Synopsis
Billie Lewis is a scientist working in a hospital laboratory. She, like millions of other people has a dream, but unlike many others is determined to make her dream a reality. When her path unexpectedly crosses Jamie Sanders, a singer with a voice made in heaven, she realizes that she has found the voice for the songs she has written over the years. As we follow Billie, who has no 'real' hands on experience in the music world we realize what she does have is her faith. With it she takes on the job of managing Jamie's career and getting him a record deal, the start of the greatest challenge of their lives. Friends become enemies and lies become the truth. Yet, somewhere in this crazy mixed up world Billie knows that her vision will one day become a reality, that despite all odds her dream will be fulfilled.

The second book is titled, 'Truths, Lies and Untold Secrets'

Synopsis
The "secret" was first transcribed in 1859 in the journal of Mary Laurelle. Over one hundred years later, her descendant, Julius Maxwell Kempalos, grows up in America under the rule of the mafia, headed by his elusive, overbearing grandfather, Don Kempalos. Surrounded by years of secrets and lies, Julius and three of his college friends meet one night and form the "Agency" to fight against the corruption that seems to be engulfing 1970s America. That night, the foundations are laid for a new bill that, if made into law, will change the lives of millions. With the seeds of change sown, Julius summons the courage and breaks free of his mafia connections; but his problems are just beginning. He falls in love, secretly starts his own family, and is determined to keep them as far away from the corruption he grew up with. Attempts made to harm his wife and children force him to give them up in order to protect them. As the years pass, his children grow up, unaware of his existence. He changes his name to Maxwell Kemp and focuses on the "Agency" and on secretly undoing his grandfather's legacy of drugs, gun smuggling, human sex trafficking and corruption. He focuses on destroying this legacy... Truths, Lies and Untold Secrets delves into the consequences of secrets and the devastating effect they may or may not have when they are exposed.
